English education is a never-ending classic, a universally recognized global brand and weighty. There are two sectors in British education: public (free) and private (paid). According to the law, all citizens of the UK between the ages of 5 and 18, as well as foreigners whose parents have the right to permanent residence in the country, can study for free. The English education is a kind of quality standard.
Private schools are more prestigious. Many of them have a history of several hundred years and are quite independent of the state. In private schools, about 7% of all British students, and that’s about 615 thousand children aged 3 to 18 years. At the same time, about 15% of their students are foreigners. Private schools, as a rule, own their own land plots (often over a hundred hectares), where their educational buildings and other facilities are located.
The education system in the UK is a combination of several levels: pre-school (up to 5 years), primary (5–13 years), secondary (13–16 / 18 years), post-school or vocational (from 16 years) and higher education (from 18 years ).
