In the v||-th century before christ (b.c) the country was invaded by the celts who came from europe. people of the celtic tribes were called britons, so they gave this name to the new homeland.

they were good warriors and proved it when repulsed a 10-thousand roman army with julius caesar at the head. it was in 55 b.c. only a century later, in 43 a .d. (anno domini) the romans actually occupied britain and it was one of the provinces of the roman empire up to 410. the romans built towns with streets, markets and shops. their houses had central heating,the baths were decorated with columns and finc statues.

     Belka and Strelka were most usual dogs of the Soviet Union.But they have become famous all over the world.These two dogs together flew into space and did a couple of turns around the Earth's orbit.This happened even before the first space flight of people before Yuri Gagarin.
     Scientists wanted to see how the animals feel before you send people into space first.Belka and Strelka planted inside and launched a satellite into orbit.The flight was difficult and dangerous, because then scientists have not really know what is happening and how a living organism in orbit.But dogs are well behaved and obedient, only barked loudly, seeing the Earth through the porthole.
     Belka and Strelka were flying in space more than a day, and then landed safely.They rejoiced worldwide.

"One morning Mr Sherlock Holmes was sitting in his room in Baker Street. I have noticed the marks of a dog's teeth on the stick.'  Probably the dog often carrys the stick behind the master,' he added. 'I wonder why this man wanted to visit us,' asked Dr Watson. 'Well, we shall soon know,' answered Sherlock Holmes. 'I can hear the bell ringing.' "
