William Shakespeare is one of the best-known writers, he was born in Stratford-on-Avon and went to grammar school there. That time many actors came to his hometown and William visited their performances very often. He decided to become an actor himself and went to London to study there.Later he became an actor and performed on stage. But he became famous for his plays and poems. His best and the most famous works are «Othello», «King Lear», «Hamlet», «Romeo and Juliet». Besides plays he wrote sonnets and poems, which are translated into many languages and are well-known through­out the world. All-in-all he wrote 38 plays, 154 sonnets and some poems. He died in 1616 but his plays are still staged and his poems and sonnets are read and admired.
