на северный флот. - I used to have a brother. He died last year. He was a sailor and he knew he would be sent to the Northern Fleet. 

До того как он уехал на север, он окончил институт. Он говорил,
что это были лучшие годы в его жизни. Before he went to the North, he had graduated from the university. He said those has been the best years in his life. 

- Он похоронен на севере? - Was he buried in the North?

- Нет. Его тело перевезли сюда. - No. His body was brought here.
