Present Perfect Past Simple
I have finished my work and I am going home now.

- No, it hasn't.

- Did the steamer arrive yesterday?
- No, it did't.
- Пароход прибыл вчера?
- Нет.

Present Perfect никогда не употребляется с такими обозначениями моментов как yesterday, last week, an hour ago, at five o'clock и т.п. С ними употребляется Past Simple.

В вопросах, начинающихся с when, всегда употребляется Past Simple, а не Present Perfect, поскольку вопрос задается о моменте или периоде времени.

Утверждения в Present Simple строятся очень просто:
I work for a big company. – Я работаю на большую компанию.
You watch TV every night. – Ты смотришь ТВ каждый вечер.
We like chicken wings. – Мы любим куринные крылышки.
They smoke a lot. – Они много курят.
