Aircraft heavier than air were just being planned, and Wells's Martians are already building their own aircraft. Wells' one more prediction is chimerical. The Martians look like an intelligent tadpole, equipped with bundles of tentacles. They are more likely a product of terrestrial rather than extraterrestrial civilization. And in the eyes of a modern person, they are disgusting. Moreover, the Martians feed on the blood of creatures that resemble the current inhabitants of the Earth. This is one of the main reasons for their expansion. The action begins with the fall of the first cylinder of the Martians unscrewing from the inside.
