3. My brother drunk hot soup while he was swimming because he felt so cold in the water.
Past Perfect:
1. The people were horrified because there had never been a plague of rats before.
2. I was hungry because I hadn't had time to eat all day.
3. I didn't see Jane at the party. She had gone home before I arrived.
