The future What will your future look like? 1 young people ask themselves this question, particularly when they 2 school and decide if they should go to university or find their first job. For 3 young people the attraction of earning money is much 4 than the desire to continue with their education. But for many young people, there is another option: taking a gap year.
Some young people don’t pass their exams, but despite their 5 they don’t give up and they find out what opportunities there are for them. Jack Hill is one of them. ‘When I found out that I failed my exams, I was really upset, but I didn’t give 6. I decided to take a year off and become a Youth Red Cross volunteer. I 7 part-time at the moment, and I’ll probably do this until the end of spring. Then I’m going to travel back home and take my exams again. I think I’ll pass this time. It might be easier for me because I know what to expect. I 8university in September. I already know what I want to do when I finish university. I want to setup my own business and continue volunteering for the Red Cross.’
