Correct the mistakes!

I suppose that, in many ways, I (1) have been (be) lucky since the day I was born. I was born two months premature and I was very ill but somehow I (2) (survived). Then, when I was three, I (3) (fell) into a pond on a farm I (4) (was staying) at. My mum (5) (had gone) into hospital for an operation and some friends (6) (were looking after) me at the time. Luckily, a man (7) (was working) near the pond and he (8) (pulled) me out!
Now I'm in my last year at school and all my friends (9) (think) I'm very lucky. For example, I (10) (have won) money on the lottery four or five times and I usually (11) (beat) everybody at cards.
I can't say I'm very hard-working but I (12) (do) well at exams - the right questions always come up.
I'm also lucky in love and I (13) (have been going out) with an amazing girl for the last six months. I hope my luck (14) (will continue) in the future.
I (15) (am taking) my university entrance exams in the summer and as soon as I (16) (finish) them, I (17) (will travel) for a couple of months.
Then, hopefully, I (18) (will study) architecture at university. 

Everybody knows that a private life should be private. That's why all of us need friends, but if you have a family, no one should know your problems. you can invite your friends to a barbeque or a picnic or to the cinema, but if you have problems with your relatives or with money, you shouldn't declare them. You can discuss the colour of wallpapers for the living room and roses, that grew up in your garden, but if your wife or husband came home drunk last night, it's not the topic for discussion. The reason is - the less people know, the more quiet your life will be. Not discussing your life with people, you can avoid gossips about you and your family. We all understand that things people tell us in our face can differ from those in our back. That is why, the proverb says - Good fences make good neighbours.
