Dear friend,

Thank you for your letter. It's always nice to hear from you. I'd really like to help you with your project! You asked me about the most popular pastimes in Russia and I'm going to answer your questions.

Well, there are many common pastimes in my country. First of all, Russian people like fishing and hunting. By the way, fishing under the ice is as important as summer angling because there are extremely long and arduous winters in Russia. Secondly, outdoor ice-skating and skiing have become traditional activities in recent years. Also Russian people gather mushrooms in the woods and fields every year in autumn and do gardening. Unfortunately, nowadays such pastimes as watching TV and playing computer games are becoming very popular in my country. Such sport games as darts, rugby, bowling, golf and cribbage are fairly uncommon in Russia. These pastimes originated in England and they're very popular there. As for my favourite pastimes, I'm fond of doing sports and keeping pets. I go to the gym and swimming pool almost every day because sport gives me a lot of energy and helps me to stay fit and healthy. You know, I have two cats, three dogs and two small parrots. I really love my pets as they make me never feel lonely!

That's all for now. I hope my letter will help you. Let me know if you need more help.

Write to me soon.

Yours,

Ann.
