Первое предложение – в Past Simple. -- от него образуется с в времени – did с отрицанием not, т.е didn't. Глагол play возвращается в свою основную форму, т.е без -ed, т.к мы уже поставили Did.

* У меня был вариант с Was, но тогда нужно задавать вопрос к себе, т.е Was I playing, однако звучит кривовато, согласись? Так что я больше склоняюсь к варианту с Were you playing.
