Для выражения действия, которое происходило в Наречия, указывающие на это время: yesterday, three days ago, last week, last month, in 1999 и т. п.
Past Continuous
was, were +ing
Для выражения длительного и незаконченного действия, проходившей в определенный момент в или когда две длительные действия происходили одновременно, обе они могут быть выражены в этом времени.
