Вообщем надо смотреть на смысл предложения в основном я лично заметила  в основном Present Simple.  

1. What were you doing at eight o'clock yesterday? - I was playing football.

2. At this time yesterday we were having an english lesson.

3. I wasn't sleeping when you called me.

5. What time yesterday were you checking rescue equipment? - At twelve o'clock. And what were you doing at that time? - I was accepting weather announcemens.
