Joseph Brodsky (1940-1996) is a writer, essayist, translator, teacher, a well-known and respected person not only in Russia, but also around the world.
According to his own statement, he wrote his first work at the age of 18 (although biographers-researchers have found earlier poems written by the poet at the age of 14-15 years). The first publication was published in 1962.
Brodsky read and studied a lot. His idols and real literary geniuses, he considered M. Tsvetaeva, A. Akhmatova (interesting fact: the personal meeting of the young Brodsky and Akhmatova occurred in 1961, the young poet liked Anna Akhmatova very much, and she took him "under her wing"), frost, B. Pasternak, O. Mandelstam, cavafy, W. Auden. He was also influenced by his contemporaries (with whom he was personally acquainted), such as B. Slutsky, S. Dovlatov, B. Okudzhava and others.
