Gorilla is the largest of all apes. Its height is around 1,75 metres and its weight is around 180 kg. Its body is covered with dark hair. Gorillas have a massive body structure with well-developed muscular system. Despite their threatening look they are quite peaceful creatures. They usually do not attack others, however, if needed they will stand up for their troop.

Gorillas live in groups. The leader of the group is the oldest adult male. Adult male is responsible for movement decisions, looking for a place to spend the night and organising daily routine of the troop. Gorillas are very caring parents to their offsprings.

Gorillas are herbivorous animals. Sometimes they can also feed on nuts and fruits. They rarely drink water, because plants contain sufficient amount of it.

Chest-beating is a well-known characteristic feature of gorillas. However, this is mostly used for threatening and rarely indicates that a gorilla is going to attack. The gesture symbolizes all the power and strength of this animal. Sometimes when a gorilla is really infuriated, it can bite.

Горилла является самой крупной из всех обезьян. Ее рост составляет около 1,75 метра, а вес – около 180 килограммов. Ее тело покрыто темной шерстью. У горилл массивное тело с хорошо развитой мускулатурой. Несмотря на свой устрашающий вид, они достаточно миролюбивые создания. Гориллы живут в группах. Вожаком является самый старый самец. Самец решает, в каком направлении будет двигаться группа, выбирает место для ночлега и определяет режим дня группы. Гориллы очень заботливые родители для своих потомков.

Гориллы – травоядные животные. Иногда они также питаются орехами и фруктами. Они редко пьют воду, потому что в растениях содержится достаточное количество воды.

Битье в грудь – известная характерная черта горилл. Хотя в большинстве случаев это используется для устрашения и редко говорит о том, что горилла готова напасть. Этот жест символизирует всю силу и мощь этого животного. Иногда, когда горилла очень разозлена, она может укусить.

Violent Sports

Sport is undoubtedly important and useful for people, although there are some sports that use violence and cruelty. For example, boxing, freestyle wrestling, martial arts, cage fighting, auto racing, armored combat, etc. Some people find these sports spectacular. That’s why they quickly gained popularity around the world. However, I think that these sports are inhuman and risky. Many prominent sportsmen have lost their lives to violent sports. Moreover, it is rather common to exploit carelessly animals in some sports, such as medieval tournaments or bullfighting. Spectators spend large sums of money to watch this cruelty. Instead, I think these performances should be banned. Some sports can be still allowed, as they have certain advantages. For example, boxing is considered to be one of the most dangerous sports in the world. People break legs, arms and noses doing this sport. However, sportsmen, who did boxing at some stage of their life, say that this sport forms a strong character and turns a person into a real fighter. Boxers are also rather self-confident and physically strong. Martial arts can be both brutal and useful. Although, it is a traumatic sport, people become physically and morally stronger after some time of training. Wrestling is another dangerous sport that involves grappling techniques. The contestants need to be strong, fit and cunning to win in such grapple. Medieval tournaments are very spectacular, although I feel sorry for those horses that participate in the fight. All in all, there are many types of violence in modern sports, that should be banned, I’m sure that sport can be spectacular even without hurting people or animals.
