It was about one o’clock in the
morning. Everyone was sleeping. The
moon was seen above the top of the
distant forest. Jane woke up and came
to the window. It was is warm spring
night. She a smell roses from the
garden. She heard an owl screaming. A
nightingale started its song beatiful
somewhere in the bush. The moon
shone so bright that Jane could even see
an old bench in the corner of the
garden. Suddenly she heard a strange
noise coming from behind the cherry
trees. “Who is that be?” thought the
girl. “Should I call my parents here?”
The noise grew louder and louder. “It
may be a thief! What if he wants to
Rob our house? But the moon shines so
bright, I’ll try to see who it could!” Jane
was scared, she was already going to
call her parents when “the thief” came
out suddenly. It was just a hedgehog who
came to her garden to eat something
tasty. Jane was glad to see the
animal. Then she went to her bed and
fell asleep again.
