Durrring the First World War Agatha worked at a hospital, and that experience was useful later on when she started writing detective stories. Her first book waspublished in 1920. It was The Mysterious Affair at Styles, and was met by the reading public withinterest. But Agatha's really great pbpularity came 1926, when she published her masterpiece, The Murder of Roger Achroydz.lrr the same year, 1926, Agatha surprised the public by suddenly disappearing for a few days after her husband wanted a divorce. She was soon found to be staying in a hotel under an assumed name. Her disapearance is still a mystery! After the divorce she married a British archaeologist, Max Mallowana. This marriage proved to be a happy one. Agatha wanted to stop using her former husband's name. But her publishers said that it would not be wise because the name of Agatha Christie had already become well known to the public. So she remained Agatha Christie to her readers for the rest of her life. Agatha Christie wrote nearly seventy novels in her career, and more than a hundred short stories. Her most famous characters are Hercule Poirots and Miss Marple. Hercule Poirot first appeared in 1920. Poirot has become a legend all over the world: the huge moustache, the egg-shaped head, his high opinion of himself, and his great ability to solve complicated mysteries thanks to his knowledge of human psycology Miss Marple is an English spinster and lives in the English village of St. Mary Mead. She does not look like a detective at all, but always succeeds where the police have failed. Instead of using a magnifying glass looking for clues, she uses her instinct and knowedge of human nature. As Miss Marple herself once said, "Human Nature is the same everywhere",In March 1962 a UNESCO report stated that Agatha Christie was now the most widely read British author in the world, with Shakespeare coming second.

Everyone has a favorite time of the year, which is beautiful in its own way. For me, wonderful days come in winter. And for sure, many people will support me and this is right. How not to enjoy the white fluffy snow covering the dirty and gray asphalt, decorating everything around with wonderful whiteness. And the air is getting cleaner. Huge snow drifts appear in the courtyards.

The day is getting shorter, and the winter sun is in no hurry to come out from behind the clouds. It comes out only for a while and does not warm at all. But how beautifully the crisp snow sparkles! The first snowfall leaves an indelible impression. Children watch with delight as snowflakes fall and enjoy the long-awaited snow. After all, it is in winter that you can ride on slides, walk through the winter forest on skis. And fans of speed skating and desperate hockey players will now be able to spend their free time at the rink.

Especially beautiful are the trees covered with heavy snow cover. When you walk through the park, you can see how the birds perch on the branches, joyfully announcing Mother winter. You feel especially great pleasure at the moment when a strong frost cracks outside the window or a blizzard sweeps, sweeping everything around. And you are sitting at this time at home by the fireplace, wrapped in a warm blanket, and drinking fragrant tea, while reading an interesting book or listening to your favorite music. And next to it lies a fluffy cat, purring something incomprehensible. There is nothing more pleasant than these moments!

Especially beautiful in the winter in the village! Huge snowdrifts lie everywhere, and the windows are covered with intricate patterns of animals and flowers, which are painted on the windows from the severe frost. They remind us of a fairy tale.

But the most important thing is that it is in winter that each of us is waiting for the New Year, which brings joy and fun to the house. Streets and houses become festive, as if informing everyone about the fabulous celebrations. After all, it is on New Year's Eve that both adults and children make their innermost wish, and hope that it will come true. For schoolchildren, long holidays are coming, where they can relax in full force. The most pleasant moment for everyone, especially for children, is the Christmas tree, where every child is looking forward to the appearance of Santa Claus and the Snow Maiden, and of course a gift. And no matter what surprises winter brings us, it will still be the most memorable time of the year for us.
