MOST PEOPLE only have three or four wooks
holiday a year, but Phill Oakley spends a lot more time
travelling than that.
His job is a travel writer he goes to places and
writes about them for newspapers and
magazines. He started his job five years ago,
when he finished university. Last year he travelled
to the USA and Asia, and spent three months
living in the Brazilian rainforest. In fact, Phil only
spent eight weeks at home! But he still enjoys
going away on holiday. We asked him about his
favourite holiday
"The best holiday I had was seven years ago
when I went camping with my best friend. We
had our tents, rucksacks and sleeping bags. We
had no plans, but we knew we wanted to see as
much of France as possible. We flew to Paris and
took the train down to the south, where the
weather was fantastic. We slept in our sleeping
bags on the beach and every morning we had
a typical French breakfast with coffee and
croissants. We both
enjoy the same things
So sometimes we
stayed on the beach
and sometimes we
visited the small
towns and villages near the sea.
"After two weeks we took a coach and went to
Spain. My parents' friends have got a small house
in the mountains (the Pyrenees) so we stayed
there for two weeks. It wasn't as hot as it was in
France so we went walking every day. The flowers
and trees there were beautiful and the air was
very clear because there's no pollution.
"Soon it was time to go home, but I'll never
forget that month
