Dear Mom, guess where I am writing this letter - I am sitting on the edge of the Grand Canyon! We leave Santa Fe two nights ago and arrive here early yesterday morning. And let me tell you, the Grand Canyon is really GRAND! I have already taken a lot of photos so that you can see them, and soon I will take a few more, but in fact, Mom, you won’t believe how great it is! It extends 277 miles from end to end — at a depth of a mile, and in some places — at a mile — and there are so many incredible colors in the rock! Blues, reds, violets, oranges, greens, yellows, and so on. There is a funny story about how the Spaniards first discovered the canyon. When the Spanish explorer first came here in 1540, he sent two of his men to the canyon for research. He told them: "Go there and quickly inspect." Quick look around! No wonder they will never return. They just die there, as long as they have a "look around." You see, the Spaniards never imagined even something so big, so they cannot guess its real size. There are many animals in the world. but my favorite animal is panda. i loved them since childhood, for the fact that they are unusual and very interesting animals. in appearance, the black and white panda resembles a bear. they have short and thick hind legs, white shaggy hair, and ears, shoulders, chest and paws are black colors. almost cat eyes hiding in black ovals. the pandas ’paws’ special feature is the sixth finger. at any age, they are insanely cute. looking at them, i really want to stroke. they can eat bamboo, fish. i have always liked good animals. i am very sorry that they are on the verge of extinction. but now the majority are safe. therefore, pandas are my favorite animals.i love pandas, because these animals in our time are not so common in nature, they are smart, a little funny and clumsy, but i just adore them. i saw them in zoos, on posters and paintings, i read a lot about them and watched movies. pandas are black and white in color, have a large weight, eat bamboo leaves, but can only gain a lot of weight on these leaves. these beautiful amazing animals live in asia, before they were exterminated because of their fangs and skins, but now in the countries of asia there is a ban on catching them and even many entrepreneurs working with animals are forbidden to breed them in nature. now panda is a treasure of asia. they are bred only in zoos with special conditions and food, the so-called "golden valiers." i was very interested in all this and i fell in love with these lovely animals and will never stop loving them!
