GM Foods Climate change is making it harder to grow crops. Genetically modified
(GM) plants, though, could be made to survive hotter or wetter weather, along
with the diseases unexpected weather can bring. However, GM foods also have
some disadvantages. Without a doubt, there are certain advantages to GM foods.
To begin with, they can be extremely nutritious. For example, scientists can
change the genes in plants to make them contain more vitamins. In addition,
they can resist diseases. For this reason, farmers don't lose their crops when
outbreaks occur. On the other hand, there are also drawbacks to GM foods.
Firstly, scientists still don't fully understand the consequences of GM foods. For
instance, if we change the genes in plants, it might affect the animals and people
that eat those plants. Another drawback of GM foods is that insects can become
resistant to GM crops. As the result, more pesticides would have to be used.
All things considered, there are advantages and disadvantages to GM foods. In
my opinion, although they seem like a good solution to climate change, we do
not know if they will have harmful side effects.
