Повествование о реальном американском учителе, работающем с "трудными" детьми. Р.Кларк преодолевает различные препятствия в отношениях с учениками и добивается успеха. Все его ученики продолжают учиться в престижных учебных заведениях. Рон Кларк является "Учителем года" в Америке, его книги о методике обучения детей стали бестселлерами, но, к сожалению, не имеют пока перевода на русский язык. Сайт Академии Рона Кларка содержит информацию об инновационных подходах (также на английском языке). Свою работу с детьми педагог выстраивает на правилах. 55 правил Рона Кларкаможно найти в сети. Впервые я посмотрела этот фильм на тьюториаде в 2011 году. По возвращении домой нашла его в сети и пересмотрела. Фильм оставляет глубокое впечатление, и сегодня я предложила посмотреть и обсудить его своим ученикам: вспомнилось, пришлось к месту. В основу фильма положена история реально существующей экспериментальной частной школы, которую в 1921 году в Англии основал Александр Нилл. Школьная жизнь основана на самоуправлении, то есть управляется учениками. Главная её идея состоит в том, что «школа должна подстраиваться под ребёнка», а не наоборот. Все в школе Саммерхилл могут поступать, как им заблагорассудится, пока их действия не наносят никакого вреда другим. В школе Саммерхилл учащиеся сами выбирают, какие уроки им посещать. 
В своей книге "Саммерхилл - воспитание свободой" Нилл пишет: “Задача ребенка состоит в том, чтобы прожить свою собственную жизнь, а не ту, которую выбрали ему беспокойные родители. Разумеется, и не ту, которая соответствовала бы целям педагога, полагающего, что уж он-то знает, как лучше. Вмешательство и руководство со стороны взрослых превращают детей в роботов". 

В сети можно найти отзывы родителей тех ребят, которые посещают Саммерхилл. Вот, к примеру, блог В.Лекечинскаса, в котором он рассказывает о необычной школе своего сына. Там разрешают вообще не ходить на уроки (и вместо них играть в компьютерные игры), и не расскажут родителям про курение и плохое поведение. В фильме о данной школе показаны реальные события: школу хотели закрыть за "необязательные уроки" и подвергали ежегодным проверкам. Однако, школа существует до сих пор и на её сайте родителей информируют о том, что дети сами выбирают, какие занятия им посещать и когда. Не знаю, возможно ли такое образовательное учреждение в нашей стране. Есть ли у нас вообще школы, основанные на самоуправлении и свободе?
