I am completely keen on reading. I try to read every day at least a few pages. I like fantasy stories and some adventurous stories. And there is a story of that kind I am eager to read over and over again. Its name is “Harry Potter.” The story was written by a popular British writer J. K. Rowling. And it tells us about a little boy Harry who lives in a family of his aunt. One day he finds out that he is a wizard and should go to study to a school of magic —  Hogwarts. And that’s where the story begins. In the following 7 parts we get to know what a great wizard Harry is. He meets new friends, studies, does sport and conquer the most evil magician in the world. These books teach how to be friendly, loyal and strong. They show us how to face difficulties and how important a family and friends are. I love this book for all of this. I have already read it a few times.

И есть история, которую я горю желанием  перечитывать снова и снова. Это “Гарри Поттер”. История была написана популярной британской писательницей Дж. К. Роулинг. И она  рассказывает нам о маленьком мальчике Гарри, который живет в семье своей тети. Однажды он узнает, что он волшебник и ему необходимо ехать учиться в школу волшебства Хогвартс. И вот, где начинается история. В последующих 7 частях  мы узнаем, насколько Гарри великий волшебник. Он встречает новых друзей, учится, занимается спортом и побеждает самого злого волшебника в мире. Эти книги учат, как быть дружелюбным, преданным и сильным. Они показывают, как преодолевать трудности, и как важны семья и друзья. Я люблю эту книгу за все это.

More Nursery Rhymes

In our earlier article concerning children’s nursery rhymes, we outlined how many of the seemingly childish playground chants appear to have their roots based in historic fact. In the previous article we attempted to provide some background as to the likely content of Little Jack Horner’s pie, the possible association of Ring a Ring O’Roses with the horrors of the 1665 Great Plague, why hush a-bye baby was rocked in the tree-tops and who the quite contrary Mary was.

We now attempt to shed light on why they couldn’t put Humpty together again, the tax implications surrounding that Baa Baa Black Sheep, and suggestions as to why ‘when the boys came out to play’, Georgie Porgie ran away. And in addition, why after visiting Gloucester, Doctor Foster never went there again; the tragic love story surrounding that most famous Somerset couple Jack and Jill, as well as suggesting reasons why the weasel goes ‘pop’!
