Of course, train romance :) Tea in the company cup holder, landscapes floating outside the window and the pacified noise of the wheels make the trip more soulful.
Minuses
Long travel time. Some cities have to get about a day.
The condition of the cars. Unfortunately, we do not always observe cleanliness and order in the car. And the conductor is in no hurry to eliminate obvious breakdowns that interfere with a comfortable trip.
Not enough personal space. If you are riding on the bottom shelf, get ready for the neighbors on top to sit on your shelf. And if you are riding on the top shelf, you will only have to lie down when the neighbor below will lay his mattress.
In the reserved seat, be prepared for constant noise and all kinds of smells, and in the summer - also for the heat.
Плюсы
Низкая стоимость билета. Согласитесь, путешествовать на поезде гораздо дешевле, чем на самолетах или даже на автобусах. А студенты вообще могут путешествовать за половину стоимости.
Большая и удобная сеть маршрутов. Не во всех городах есть аэропорты, а вот вокзалы и платформы есть даже в поселках. Есть много узловых станций, где можно без проблем пересесть на нужное направление.
Вы экономите время и силы, если путешествуете ночными экспрессами. Очень удобно сесть поезд вечером, а утром по приезду сразу идти осматривать достопримечательности города, ведь вы уже выспались в поезде.
Поезда опаздывают реже, чем самолеты.
Больше пространства в вагоне. Вы можете полежать, походить по вагону, посидеть, может, даже заняться йогой:)
Большинство вокзалов расположены в центре города. Таким образом, вы экономите время и деньги на трансфере из аэропорта.
Не такой жесткий пропускной контроль. На входе в вагон вам достаточно предъявить паспорт проводнику, и вы можете занять свое место, не надо проходить процедуру досмотра как в аэропорту.

Минусы
Долгое время в пути. К некоторым городам приходится добираться около суток.
Состояние вагонов. К сожалению, не всегда мы наблюдаем чистоту и порядок в вагоне. А проводник не спешит устранять явные поломки, которые мешают комфортному путешествию.
Мало личного пространства. Если вы едете на нижней полке, приготовьтесь к тому, что соседи сверху будут сидеть на вашей полке. А если вы едете на верхней полке, вам придется только лежать, когда сосед снизу постелит свой матрац.
В плацкарте будьте готовы к постоянному шуму и всевозможным запахам, а в летнее время – еще и к жаре.
