Task №1. Ex 2 p 70 Students book. Read and listen to the text. Which subjects are difficult for Paul?

Journalist Paul Jones visits his old school after 25 years. He goes with his son, Matt, a student at the school. Are things different now? This is Paul’s diary:

Maths (double) The day starts at nine o’clock with maths. The teacher is Mrs Murphy. And she’s very strict. Maths is easy now – Matt always uses a calculator in class!

Break

Food technology This is a new subject for me. We study food, but we don’t cook it. Very strange!

PE Oh no! I’m 42 years old. I sometimes watch gymnastics on TV. It’s OK, but it isn’t my favourite activity.

Lunch The food in the school canteen isn’t bad. Matt isn’t happy because there aren’t any chips today.

ICT School subjects are different these days – they don’t study Latin now. This is difficult! I often use a computer at home, but in class I’m very slow and I don’t finish my project.

French Terrible! The teacher doesn’t speak in English and I don’t understand. And there’s an exam! Matt copies from his friend, I copy from Matt, and the teacher isn’t very happy. School finishes at half past three – phew!

Conclusion An interesting day. School is different these days but not very different. I don’t usually study, but it’s fun!

3. In the afternoon, when my school is over, I come back home. At home I have my lunch, cooked by my mother, and after that I start doing my homework. Usually I have a lot of homework to do, so it takes me a few hours to finish everything.

4. In the evening I stay at home with my family.  We can watch and discuss some interesting TV programm or film, or I can spend some time at my computer. At 9. 30 I go to bed, where I read before going to sleep.

The first holiday in Kazakhstan is the Nauryz holiday or the Spring holiday, the roots of which still stretch from the pre-Islamic history of the Kazakhs. On this day, the main festive property becomes a specially prepared dish Nauryz-kozhe, which consists of seven types of products: meat, wheat, rice, barley, millet, chumiza and kurt. People visit each other, sing songs, wish the coming year to bring good fruit and prosperity into the house.
The feast of Razayt or "the holiday of breaking the fast" is celebrated on the first and second day of the month in honor of the completion of the fast of the month of Ramadan. According to the canons of the Koran, every devout Muslim must fast every month for a month. During the day it is forbidden to drink, eat, be attached to entertainment, and even rinse your mouth with water. And only after sunset and before sunrise is allowed to eat food and water. All day time should be spent in work, prayer and reading the Quran. In honor of the end of the month of Ramadan, a feast is organized, the rite of which consists in a special common prayer, followed by a meal and distribution of alms to the poor. Various entertainment events are also held on this day.
But the most important Muslim holiday is considered to be the Kurban-Ait holiday, or the “festival of sacrifice,” which is usually celebrated for three to four days. There is a legend, once to one of the ancestors of the peoples of Northern Arabia Ibrahim, Allah appeared in a dream and told him to try his faith to climb the mountains and sacrifice his son Ismail. When he was ready to kill the boy, Allah became convinced of his loyalty and ordered him to send a lamb as an atoning sacrifice. Hence the ceremony, every devout Muslim on this day sacrifices a sheep or a lamb. The meat is used for the family's festive meal, the rest is distributed to the poor. On this day, everyone congratulates each other, in the villages even arrange a traditional kokpar contest.
