The article «The Russian state insignia" is devoted to the history of Russian national symbols: two-headed eagle and white-blue-red flag. Two headed-eagle became a national symbol in 15 th century, when Ivan III married Sophia Poleolog. It was a national symbol for about four hundred years until october revolution, and was restored in 1993. It symbolize that Russia is situated in Europe and Asia. There were several changes in it. For example, in the 17 th century three crowns above eagle were added. The modern national flag was accepted by Boris Yeltsin in 1993. On the flag there are three equal horizontal stripes: white, blue, red. But this flag was used three times before. Firstly, by Peter Great as a trade flag, but in 1958 it was changed to the Emperor`s banner by Alexander II.Secondly, it became a national flag during the reign of Alexander III and was replaced by Soviet Red banner after October revolution, and 76 years after it began the national symbol again.
