GEEKS AND SUPERHEROES
Do you like comics? In the 1950s and 60s, many teenagers used to read comics like Batman, Superman or X Men. Some were so fascinated by comics that they would continue reading them when they grew up. They were comic ‘geeks’: intelligent, often unsociable young people who identified more with the worlds of fantasy and science fiction than the real world. Geeks still exist today; in the popular TV comedy series The Big Bang Theory, the main characters are science geeks who are big fans of comics, fantasy games and Comic-Con.
Comic-Con doesn’t try to make money. In fact it describes itself as a non-profit organisation that exists to make comics and related art forms more popular through conventions and events. In 1970, a group of about 100 comic fans got together in San Diego, California for the first Comic-Con, or convention. They decided to include not only comics, but also other aspects of popular culture, including fantasy and science-fiction games, books and films from all over the world. Within 30 years, Comic-Con had grown into a huge three-day international convention, with over 120,000 visitors every year. Today there are exhibitions, comics to buy, games to play, educational sessions, talks, a film festival, and even an awards ceremony known as the ‘Oscars’ of the comic industry.
Nowadays, there are comic conventions all over the world, but Comic-Con is the most iconic. It attracts famous film stars, writers and artists from the world of comics. Many of the fans who visit it wear costumes of comic book characters, and sometimes famous stars wear a disguise too so they can wander round the convention like all the other fans. In 2014, Daniel Radcliffe walked around Comic-Con dressed in a Spiderman costume with a face mask, and no one recognised him. So if you go to Comic-Con, you never know who might be next to you!

My favourite singer is Rihanna. She was born in Sain Michael, Barbados on 20 February. Nowdays Rihanna is already quite famous singer with musical influences from pop, R'n'b, reggae, dancehall and dance. She became wellknow all over the world. With her hits such as "SOS", Unfaithul and the lates "Cry", "Umbrella", "Don´t stop the music". When she was 15 she made her first big break. When of her friends introduced her famous musical producer Evan Rogers. He was on holidays in Barbados with his life. Rogers helped Rihanna record material in the United States of America and send to music companies. Her full name is Rihanna Robyn Fenty. I like her beutiful voice. Also I like her lifestyle. Few years ago she was a model. In my opinion the best song is Shut up and drive.

In Europe in the early middle ages practiced sending boys to the training of competent clergymen in monasteries or pages in a wealthy family. The first monastery boarding school is considered to be The King's School in Canterbury, founded in 597 year. Among the schools represented on our website, the oldest is The King's School Ely, courtyard with a Grand medieval Cathedral, Or in 973 it prepared the choristers of the Cathedral for the service, giving the best education that you could get in the UK. In the XII century the Pope has shown all the monasteries of the Benedictines, which was, for example, Westminster, to give free education. Secular schools arose when there is a paid students. They were created on the model of the collegiate universities of Oxford and Cambridge. Private education at home until the seventeenth century remained the norm for aristocratic families, especially for girls, but in the future more and more widespread views that young people should be educated collectively. Thus, throughout its thousand years of development of the concept of education has adapted to changing social conditions. Classic British boarding school became very popular in the heyday of the British colonial Empire. Going into administration in the colony, the fathers could be confident that their children are brought up surrounded by British culture at home. For foreign dignitaries, the British government provided the opportunity to give their children a British education with the expectation that children will absorb British values and become supporters of the colonial regime. An important reason why the family sends the children to boarding school, especially if it is studied by many generations of the family, is the ability to expand the horizons of the child, to instill in him a certain culture, common to this family of the clan. Others wish to give the child a higher education than they received themselves, to give the child the opportunity to join the culture of high society. Today in the UK there are over 800 private boarding schools, with an enrollment of over 100,000 children.
