Parents and Сhildren The conflict between parents and children has been known at all times. Nowadays the problem of generations still exists. This can be manifested in the following ways.

First, parents often disagree on the way a teenager dresses up. For example, my mother does not let me wear high-heeled shoes, because it would spoil my bearing. As if I am going to wear high-heeled shoes the whole day! And those transparent blouses! Just think of the bikini I am wearing on the beach or in the swimming pool! There I am almost naked! And no objection to it. Nobody cares! I have such a feeling that my parents have never been teenagers. This is impossible, that is not allowed. And what is possible? One can not forbid everything. I consider a teenager should choose himself what to wear, sometimes consulting parents on some things, but not all. A teenager makes a choice in the style of clothes. At least this is available for us, isn’t it?

Second, if we stop arguing on what to put on we can solve other problems, too. I suppose, every parent heard the following: "You don’t let me do anything!" Sometimes it is true, sometimes it is a way to cause parents’ pity and to be allowed to go everywhere and to do anything. As for me, I wouldn’t like to be called every now and then and be asked what I was wearing or whether I was hungry. A teenager can find answers himself.

Another disputable point is friends and entertainments, which seem to be an eternal problem. Who? When? and Where? Those questions are always on parents’ mind. I want to tell you a story. When I went to my girlfriend, my telephone ran out of energy. Father called me several times, but there was no answer. So he got angry and showed up at my friend’s place shouting at me. I explained everything to him reminding that I had warned of my visit. My daddy apologized and told me that he would never doubt me. It is a pity that our parents do not trust us!

There is one more problem yet. Shall I share my secrets and interests with my parents? How can I explain to my daddy that there is a guy at school, who stylishly dresses and is smart but does not look at me! To my daddy it will seem nonsense compared with the problems in clinics he works at. Certainly, we have not grown yet! Mummy and daddy! To understand me you’ve got to recollect your youth and the questions that troubled you at the age of fourteen-sixteen! When you were 15 the most important problem for you was what to put on or how to put a make up to attract somebody’s attention. Recollect how you needed help of your parents!

So, if parents gave advice to their children as an adult to an adult it would be estimated by each teenager. Children trust there parents more when they treat their children as equals.
