When I came back to the flat I was sharing with Mark, a college friend, it was already past midnight. I had spent the
weekend in my hometown with my parents and I was feeling quite relaxed. I quietly unlocked the door and went into
the flat (1) I nearly fell over Mark's sports bag, which he'd carelessly left in the middle of the hall. His shoes and
tennis stuff were lying all around the floor. I took off my coat and went to the kitchen to have some tea. It was the same
old story there. (2) food leftovers were on the table and the bin was so full that some rubbish had fallen over it onto
the floor Angry. I dashed to the living room, which I'd carefully tidied on Friday before leaving the place. The awful smell
