If we didn't understand any of the serious environmental problems
facing us today, we (1)

them. Did you know that the United Nations organises a day to help
make people more aware of these issues. It takes place on 5th June
every year, and it's called World Environment Day (WED).
Last year, people from across the world got involved. In Korea, there
were events organised to promote sustainable development and to
encourage people to reduce their (2)
footprint. In Bosnia
and Herzegovina, people called (3)
more protection for
areas that had been exposed (4)
pollution in the past as
well as places currently threatened (5)
destruction, and
in South Africa they organised a campaign to encourage people to
throw (6)
less food.

do more to help the
environment, WED is a great way to get involved. Have a look at their
website and see what you could do. After all, it's high (8)
we all did something before it's too late.

The best day of the year was when my family celebrated the New Year. We bought the New Year tree and put it in the living-room. Father Frost came and gave me nice presents. We sang songs and danced around the tree. We ate salads, cakes and pizza. We didn’t sleep at night. We went outside and watched fantastic fireworks. It was the happiest day in my life.

Мы пели песни и танцевали вокруг елки. Мы ели салаты, пирожные и пиццу. Ночью мы не спали. Мы вышли на улицу и смотрели фантастические фейерверки. Это был самый счастливый день в моей жизни.

My mum is 41 years old. She is very nice. My mum is small and slim. She has got blue eyes and short hair. Her favorite clothes are skirts, blouses, and dresses. Her favorite colors are green and yellow. Her favorite food is salad and all kinds of vegetables.

Her favorite animal is fish. She loves walking in the forest, but she hates skiing. Her hobbies are shopping and cooking. She can cook very well, and she always cleans the house. My mum always says to me that I should be a good student.

I love my mum because she is very nice.

My father’s name is Nikolay. He is 48. He is of average height and rather thin. His hair is light brown and his eyes are grey.

My father works in a big construction company. He is the head of the purchasing department there.His job is very difficult and requires a lot of responsibility. Sometimes my father has to go to meetings in another city. Despite being so busy at work my father is off every weekend. I am so glad about that, because we can spend this time together.

When at work my father wears a dark-coloured suit. Sometimes he puts on a tie. He prefers casual style in his everyday life. He often wears jeans and a polo shirt.

My father is very kind but, sometimes, can be quite strict and demanding. He is an example of a good and sincere man. Respect and understanding prevail in our family.
