The city consists of four administrative districts: Zheleznodorozhniy, Zavolzhskiy, Zasviyazhskiy, Leninskiy. – Город состоит из четырех административных округов: Железнодорожный, Заволжский, Засвияжский и Ленинский.
Zheleznodorozhniy district is situated between two rivers – Volga and Sviyaga. A part of Zavolzhskiy district is the only one place in Russia that is located below the level of nearby water reservoir – Volga River. It is protected by a dam. Zasviyazhskiy district is a historical place, which proceeds from Kazak village Zasviyazhskaya Sloboda. Leninskiy is the fourth district of Ulyanosk.

The most famous attraction in Ulyanovsk is one of the biggest aircraft exhibitions in Russia, which is presented at the Museum of Civil Aviation. This city is also motherland of the well-known architect Livchak, and one can find many buildings contrasted by him at the streets of Ulyanovsk.

The transportation system of the city is very well developed. Ulyanovsk is the only one city in the world that has two international airports unless having less than 1 mln. citizens. One can also get to the city by railway, by bus or by river ship.
