Task 1.Jennifer’s description. Is Jennifer’s hero famous? Although most people have got heroes like Nelson Mandela or Usain Bolt, my hero is my granddad. He was born 80 years ago so he’s very old. When he was a young boy, his parents died so he lived with his aunt, uncle and cousins in Manchester. Life wasn’t easy for them because they never had enough money.When he was 13, my granddad left school and started working. He wanted to be a vet so he studied at night after work as well. He worked really hard and he became a vet when he was 25. It was his dream job.I like him because he’s funny, friendly and kind to everyone, and I admire him because he worked hard to achieve his dream. I would like to be like him when I’m older.

Most people say community service is a good way to deal with young offenders. But is this the best solution?

One of the advantages of this type of punishment is that it makes offenders aware of the importance of physical labor. It also teaches young people to respect the work of others. Another advantage is that it can be useful for society: cleaning the streets, caring for pensioners and all people.

One drawback is that not every criminal is aware of how serious their punishment is. This means that the young criminal will commit a crime again in the future. In addition, this kind of punishment cannot be imposed for dangerous criminals.

All in all, I want to say that community service is only for first-time offenders who plead guilty and want to make their way. So in my opinion this is a great way to punish young offenders
