Вернон Дэвис жил в Лондоне и держал в доме птиц-попугайчиков.Однажды он позвонил своему другу и попросил его накормить  птиц так как он собирается в Уэльс на неделю. Он сказал, что оставил еду на кухне. Ключ от входной двери будет лежать в почтовом ящике квартиры его друга. Друг забыл о птицах до той ночи, когда должен был приехать Вкернон. Он также забыл о ключах от двери и попытался попасть в дом через окно. Он подумал о том, что бедные птицы уже мертвы. В результате, когда он лез через   окно, полицейский осветил его фонариком и спросил, что он тут делает. "О, сказал он, я только собирался зайти и дать немного пищи птицам Мистера Дэвиса.
