Андрей Аршавин в школе учился довольно плохо. И если плохие оценки чередовались с хорошими, то за поведение стабильно был «неуд». Интерес к футболу Андрею привил отец, он то и отвел своего 7-летнего сына в знаменитую спортивную школу Питера «Смена». Там будущего спортсмена тренировали Виктор Виноградов и Сергей Гордеев. "Клубная карьера За взрослую команду «Смены» Андрей Аршавин начал играть в 16-летнем возрасте. А спустя два года его позвали в резервный состав «Зенита», а уже в 2000 году перешел в основную команду. "Зенит" 2 августа 2002 года Андрей Аршавин на гостевом матче Кубка Интертото против «Брэдфорд Сити» заменил Андрея Кобелева. Игра закончилась со счетом 3:0. С 2001 года по 2006 Андрей Аршавин и Александр Кержаков образовали так называемую «Золотую связку». Она распалась после того, как Кержаков перешел в «Севилью».
