The flight of test pilot Yuri Gagarin took place on April 12, 1961. Gagarin entered the near-earth orbit from the Baikonur cosmodrome on the Vostok spacecraft. The total flight time was 108 minutes. The model of the ship represents one revolution around the Earth and landed in the Saratov region. At a height of several kilometers from the Ground Gagarin catapulted and landed with a parachute near the lander. The cosmonaut was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union, and on April 12 he was declared a holiday - Cosmonautics Day.
