In August 1619, the first twenty black slaves arrived on a small Dutch ship
to Jamestown, Virginia - the first British colony in the New World. Thus began the
long history of slavery in the USA. But this was not the first time that the African
slave trade had taken place. The Afro-European slave trade began in around 1440,

even that was not the real beginning.
Slavery was already part of Africa's tribal economy and society - more so

The slave trade was finally abolished in England in 1807,

with slavery abolished in the US in 1865, Cuba in 1886, Brazil in 1888, Sierre
