To your health

Can all this computing be good for you? Are there any unhealthy side effects? The computer seems harmless enough. How bad can it be, sitting in a padded chair in a climate-controlled office?
Health questions have been raised by the people who sit all day in front of the video display terminals (VDTs) of their computers. Are computer users getting bad radiation? What about eyestrain? And what about the age-old back problem, updated with new concerns about workers who hold their hands over a keyboard? What about repetitive-action injury also known as carpal tunnel syndrome?
Unions and legislators in many communities continue to push for laws limiting exposure to video screens. Many manufacturers now offer screens with built-in protection.
Meanwhile, there are a number of things workers can do to take care of themselves. A good place to begin is with an ergonomically designed workstation. Ergonomics is the study of human factors related to computers. A properly designed workstation takes a varie¬ty of factors into account, such as the distance from the eyes to the screen and the angle of the arms and wrists.
Experts recommend these steps as coping mechanisms:

• Turn the screen away from the window to reduce glare, and cover your screen with a glare deflector.
• Turn off overhead lights; illuminate your work area with a lamp.
• Put your monitor on a tilt-and-swivel base.
• Get a pneumatically adjustable chair. Position the seat back so your lower back is supported.
• Place the keyboard low enough to avoid arm and wrist fatigue. Do not bend your wrists when you type. Use an inexpensive, raised wrist rest. Do not rest your wrists on a sharp edge.
• Sit with your feet firmly on the floor.
• Exercise at your desk occasionally rotating your wrist, rolling your shoulders, and stretching. Better yet, get up and walk around at regular intervals.

Yesterday I called to the polyclinic to make an appointment with my district doctor.

When I arrived at the reception, the receptionist found my patient’s card and directed me to consulting room 5 where my district doctor saw patients. I didn’t have to wait long. Soon the nurse invited me to come in. The doctor asked me what was wrong with me. I told her my complaints, namely dry cough and a bad headache. She told me to strip to the waist and began to examine me. First she felt my pulse and took my blood pressure. Then she examined my throat and listened to my lungs. The doctor didn‘t think there was anything wrong with me, just a common cold.

So she wrote out a prescription for some medicine which she said would make me feel better. She also recommended me to stay in bed for several days.

The first U.S. President, known to all Americans, was a "Father of the nation" George Washington. George was born in Virginia in the family of a planter. When he was 11, his father died. The family had a lot of land but lacked the money to send George school in England, which went rich children at that time. The boy went to a private school and after 2 personal teacher taught him as a military and Virginia gentleman. George studied uzdeti on horseback, hunting, shooting and swimming. Because he was good at arithmetic, he studied "to measure the earth." A young man went to a distant part of the country to measure the land to those who have built their homes here. He spent many hours ride in any weather. He learned to sleep outside the home itself to prepare their own food and hard work every day. Everyone loved and trusted the young George.

George Washington began his career at the benefit of their country as a major in the police Virginia and after he became commander in chief of the colonial army during the war. He was among those who wrote the Constitution in the US in Philadelphia. People respected him for his honesty, courage and wisdom.

After the war, Washington wanted to retire and live in mount Vernon, where he was a beautiful house and a large plantations. But he knew that his duty was to serve the country. He hurried to new York, which was then the capital. April 30, 1789, a large crowd, he promised to preserve and defend the Constitution of the United States. It was when Washington was the first President and served two terms. He refused 3rd term and retired to mount Vernon, where he died two years later.

Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the USA. As George Washington, he received a special place in the list of American presidents.

He grew up in the Midwest. His first house was small: 1 bedroom house in the forest. His family were pioneers who helped in the war with the Indians and pushed through them abroad USA farther West. The family lived in poverty. His family moved to Kentucky in Indiana when Abraham was 7. It was his house for 14 years. Thomas Lincoln( father of Abraham) had hoped for a better life here. Soon his mother died. Abraham and his sister were alone when their father married again. His mother encouraged his ambition to study. Although he had little chance to get to school, he liked to read. He studied reading books. Such as the Bible, Aesop's Fables and Robinson Crusoe. He often traveled far and wide to take the book in debt.

Abraham grew fast. He learned to do the heavy pioneering work, such as chop down trees, and care of crops. He usually won durability test, when arguing with the other boys. Everybody loved him, and said that he was born storyteller. But no one could say why this modest young man with a gentle voice may become one of the great presidents of America.

When Abraham Lincoln was 21 years old, his family moved to Illinois. Since then Abraham called the Illinois home. For some time he worked in a shop. After he joined the militia and fought in the Indiana war. After the war he went home with educated young lawyer. This new friend gave Abraham the Council to study law.
