The modern world is becoming smaller all the time. Every day distances between different
countries seem less. For this reason it's becoming more and more important to know different
languages, especially English. One billion people speak English today. That's about 20% of the
world's population. 400 million people speak English as their first language. For the other 600
million people it's either a second language or a foreign language.
English is the first language in the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Australia and
New Zealand. It is one of the official languages in Canada, the Irish Republic and the Republic
of South Africa .As a second language English is spoken in more than 60 countries.

First of all I want to tell you that my best friend's name is Igor and he is 15. He is the best person I have ever met. A few  words about his appearance. His height is nearly 149 cm. But he'd like to be a bit taller.  Igor has a round face as everyone has, a bit long nose and big cheerful grey eyes. His forehead is open.  His hair isn't very short but it's not long either. It is straight and black.  I think that he looks like his father.
Igor is very active and creative, cheerful and curious. But the best thing is that he is reliable. We spend much time together. We go for a walk, we play tennis, watch TV, do things which we like. I love my friend.   
Прежде всего, я хочу сказать вам, что моего друга зовут Игорь и ему 15. Он самый лучший человек, которого я когда-либо встречал. Несколько слов об его внешности. Его рост около 149 см. Но он хотел бы быть немного выше. 
У Игоря круглое лицо, как и у всех, немного длинный нос и большие радостные серые глаза.  Eго лоб открытый.   Его волосы не очень короткие, но это не длинные. Они прямые и  черные. Я думаю, что он похож на своего отца.
Игорь очень активный и творческий, жизнерадостный и любознательный. Но самое главное - он надежный. Мы проводим много времени вместе. Мы ходим гулять, играем в теннис, смотрим телевизор, делаем вещи, которые нам нравятся. Я люблю моего друга.

1.     The letters were brought  by the office manager and were put on the C.E.O.’s table.
2.     This work is being carried  out at the moment by out sales manager who will stay in the office till 11 p.m.!
3.     The contracts will have been  signed  by 2 p.m. tomorrow.
4.     The interview had been finished before I came to have a look at a new employee of our company.
5.     Mr. Smith, the top-manager of my department was invited yesterday to attend the official
dinner at the C.E.O’s.
6.     The discussion of this deal was interrupted suddenly by the arrival of our partners last
Wednesday.
7.     I promise my colleagues that all the papers will be  signed next month.
