Three cases in using Present Continuous:
1) Actions, that happening right now:
That girl is playing tennis.
Та девочка сейчас играет в теннис.
2) Actions, that happening in present but not at this moment:
Now I’m living in New York but it’s temporary.
Я сейчас живу в Нью-Йорке, но это временно.
I'm working hard on my English to get into university.
Я налегаю на английский, чтобы поступить в университет.
3) Something you planned and agreed with other people
Как правило, это планы, в осуществлении которых человек на сто процентов уверен. Если вы записаны к стоматологу, созвонились с другом, чтобы встретиться ровно в пять, собираетесь сдавать экзамены, и расписание известно — смело используйте Present Continuous.
Чтобы собеседник понял, что речь идет о будущем, добавляют слова-маркеры: завтра, в следующий вторник, сегодня вечером и т.д.
I’m visiting my dentist tomorrow.
Я завтра иду к стоматологу.
Are you meeting Sam tonight?
Ты сегодня встречаешься с Сэмом?
I’m having my exam at 11.
У меня экзамен в 11.

You must stop reading; you have a headache because you have been reading too long! 10. my elder brother joined the army when he was eighteen. 11. they had been living in that town for ten years and then moved to the country. 12. we have been living here for the last six months, and have just decided to move. 13. he has been writing a new play for the last two years, but he hasn't finished it yet
