My New School Is Fantastic
Rita Nelson is fourteen, and she has changed her school because her parents moved to another town this summer.“Let me tell you about my new school. I’m having a great time. All pupils are very friendly, but it’s very different from my old school. I can tell you! First of all school starts at 8.00 here, a whole, hour before it did in that school. This morning I forgot about it and got to school ten minutes late, so the teacher put a note into my record-book. I was really angry! There are a lot of other differences in this school, of course. We have seven lessons here almost every day. What else? The school day is different, too. In my former school we finished school at 3.00, and then most pupils went home. Here we finish lessons at 3.30, and then most pupils go to sports practice. Well, they love sports here.I joined gymnastics and football clubs here. A lot of girls play football in this school. I had my first practice yesterday, and I feel tired today.Another important thing here is learning to do practical things. Their metal and wood shops are like small factories, and we are taught to drive as well. It’s fantastic. I had my first lesson in driving a tractor yesterday.”

Yesterday I heard my alarm clock but I went back to sleep. I got up late and ran to the kitchen. I burnt my tongue because the milk was too hot! I also cut my finger on a knife and my butter and jam toast fell on the carpet, on the wrong side of course! Afterwards I hit my foot against the door. Ouch, it hurt! When I opened the door of its cage, my canary flew away. Ten minutes later, I caught him in a net and put him back into the cage. Of course, I left home late and missed the bus. I took my bike and rode to school. It was so cold that my fingers froze. There I had a horrible history test. I was so nervous that I broke my pen and forgot everything I knew. In the afternoon, the PE teacher taught us how to fight. I fought against a big boy who beat me so hard that I lost a tooth. And even worse! Somebody stole my MP3 player in my locker. I couldn't believe it! Fortunately, my alarm clock rang again and I realised it was only a bad dream, a real nightmare! What a relief!

London would not be London without the River Thames. It flows 215 miles across the English, it reaches the sea.

the Thames provided a major highway between London and many parts of the country.London was protected from sea attacks because they built castles and forts at the mouth of the river.

With the industrial Revolution in the 18th centery , the Thames become one of the busiest waterways in the world.

Today the Thames has become a symbol of London, just as much as Big Ben or Buckingham Palace. You can admire bridges built in many different architectural styles. The most famous one is probably Tower Bridge Or you might be lucky enough to see London's rowing event, the Oxford and cambridge Boat Race.the Thames will always have something to offer you.
