Yuri Gagarin
In Russia. April, 12 is celebrated as the Day of Cosmonautics. On 12 April
1961, the spaceship left our planet from the Baikanur cosmodrome in
Kazakhstan. It was the first time in the history of mankind when the Russian
spaceship "Vostok" with the man on board was in space.
The world heard a human voice from the space. It was the voice of Yuri
Gagarin, a citizen of our country. He was the first who made the flight into
unknown. His flight lasted 108 minutes. Gagarin said ,Let's go!" and with
these words he became the first man of our planet. The news of man's first flight
into space was broadcasted in all the languages of the world: "...the... world's
first orbital spaceship... Vostok". with a man on board..."
When he returned to the Earth he was full of joy. After his flight he visited
many countries and saw millions of people. Everybody was glad to see him.
Gagarin became the Hero not only of our country, but also of the whole world.
The people are proud of the first Russian cosmonaut and will always remember him
