Acid rain is rain that contains particles of acid. It is caused by burning fossil fuels. It is bad for all on the Earth.
• The Statue of Liberty in New York is a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. For many years now, acid rain has been damaging the statue and has even changed its colour.
• The Leshan Giant Buddha is located in China. It is the world's largest stone Buddha. It was nearly destroyed by wind erosion and acid rain before 1963 when the Chinese government began to repair it. Nowadays, the maintenance work is still  in progress .
• The Great Sphinx in Giza is one of the most fascinating historical monuments of Egypt. It was built about 4,500 years ago and is the biggest stone sculpture made by man.Unfortunately, wind, smog and acid rain are putting this monument in danger.
Burning coal, oil and gas dmages the atmosphere. This is what creates acid rain. The best way  to solve the problem is to use alternative energy sources to produce our electricity.  Another thing we can do is make cars and other vehicles more environmentally friendly.. In this way, the atmosphere will be cleaner and our monuments will stay beautiful.

Thanksgiving Day is a harvest festival. Traditionally, it is a time to give thanks for the harvest and express gratitude in general. It is a holiday celebrated primarily in Canada and the United States. The American Thanksgiving began as a feast of thanksgiving almost four hundred years ago.Their first winter in America was difficult. They arrived too late to grow a rich harvest. Moreover, half the colony died from disease. The following spring the Iroquois Indians taught them how to grow corn. Indians showed them also how to grow other crops and how to hunt and fish.On Thanksgiving Day, family members gather at the house of an older relative, even if they live far away. All give thanks for everything good they have. Charitable organizations offer traditional meal to the homeless.Today, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday of October in Canada and on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States. Thanksgiving dinner is held on this day, usually as a gathering of family members and friends.Americans of all religions celebrate this holiday with big dinners and family reunions. It is a time to remember all the good things in life and to be thankful. Turkey is a traditional Thanksgiving Day Food.
