1-е правило. Действие, которое происходило в определенное время в :

1) I was having a shower at 8 this morning. (Я принимал душ в 8 утра.)

2) My mum was baking a pie this time yesterday. (Моя мама пекла пирог вчера в это время.)

2. Действие, которое длилось какое-то время в , прерывается другим действием. Past Continuous обозначает длительное действие, а Past Simple – короткое единичное действие:

1) I was reading a book when my friend phoned me. (Я читал(а) книгу, когда мой друг/подруга позвонил(а) мне.)

2) My cat jumped on me when I was sleeping. (Моя кошка прыгнула на меня, когда я спал(а).)

3-е правило. Мы используем Past Continuous, когда говорим о двух действиях, которые происходили одновременно в

1) I was doing my homework while my mum was cooking dinner. (Я делала уроки, пока моя мама готовила ужин.)

2) We were eating popcorn while we were watching a film in the cinema. (Мы ели попкорн, пока смотрели фильм в кинотеатре. )
