Н: Well, I’d like to visit Great Britain this year. I’m going to spend there at least two weeks. I’d like to see such cities as London, Manchester, maybe Edinburgh…
А: Where are you going to stay? At a hotel?
Н: Oh no. In summer the hotel rates are highest. I am going to rent a room.
А: Sounds great. You will a wonderful opportunity to improve your englosh. Oh, you know, if you are tired of big and noisy cities, you can go down to the sea for some days.
Н: Do you think, it is a good idea? I’ve heard the sea is cold there.
А: well, North Sea is not like Black sea. But if it will be warm enough, you can swim a little. The fresh air is very healthy and pleasant. And you can simply go up and down the front, listen to the bend on the pier.
Н: But the weather is very changeable in Great Britain…
А: You can find the nearest café and drink hot English tea and watch the sea.
Н: Well, thanks for your advice. If I have an opportunity, I will go to the seaside. And what about you? What are you going to do this summer?
А: Oh, I don’t know yet. I thought of going toFrance again, but I’ve already been there twice. And I’d like to try somewhere new.
Н: A friend of mine is going to Spain for several days. Why don’t you go there?
А: Oh no. I dislike the idea of sightseeing this year.
Н: Well, you can go to the seaside and spend some time there, lying in the sun and bathing… You can collect shells or take lessons of diving, or play beach volleyball.
А: You know, I prefer more active ways of spending a holiday such as camping or bicycle tour. I wanted to go camping, but nobody of my friends agreed to go with me.
Н: Agatha, do you like skiing? You may go to the Austrian Alps, for example, or something like that. There you can ski, skate or just walk among the mountains and take wonderful pictures.
А: It’s wonderful idea. I have never been in the mountains. I will be able to improve my ski skills and make a lot of new friends there.
Н: I know you like snow. I’m sure you will spend a thoroughly enjoyable time.
А: I hope so.
Doctor: Come in, please.
Patient: Thank you. Doctor, I decided to make an appointment because yesterday I had a splitting headache and rash all over my body after taking pills for stomach pain.
Doctor: Did I write out a prescription for taking the pills?
Patient: Yes, here it is.
Doctor: These pills are very strong. They can trigger such symptoms as dizziness, nausea and even rash. Let me check you. I’ll measure your blood pressure but firstly put a thermometer into your armpit.
Doctor: Your temperature is in the normal range but your blood pressure is very low. Did you read the medicine label before taking those pills?
Patient: No, I thought your prescription and recommendations were enough to take them correctly.
Doctor: What dose did you take at once?
Patient: I took two pills.
Doctor: So everything should have been all right then. You told me you had no allergies. What’s wrong then?
Patient: Just a few days ago I was sneezing all day long but I went on taking the pills.
Doctor: As far as these pills are concerned, they mustn’t be taken if you have any allergies. So taking them caused terrible side effects.
