my name is anna titova. i’m 17. i’m a student of a polytechnic college. our college is a department of norilsk state industrial institute. it is the only one federal establishment of higher education in our town. its graduates are considered to be the most highly trained specialists in the region. most of the students who study at the institute and the college have their practice at norilsk production facilities, which are owned by ojsc “mmc “norilsk nickel”, such as copper plant, nadezhda metallurgical plant, talnakh concentrator and different mines. there are ten departments in our college and i would like to tell you about some of them.
at the “thermal power plants” department, you can get the qualification of a power engineer. it’s a technically skilled and knowledgeable specialist who is certified and responsible to operate equipment and processes, which are related to steam boilers, pressure vessels, fired heaters and refrigeration systems, in a safe and efficient manner. that means that this person deals with generation, transmission, distribution and utilization of thermal electrical power, and the electrical apparatus connected to the systems of power generation. power engineers work in a wide variety of industrial and commercial facilities such as power generation stations, chemical plants, smelters, food productions plants and even hospital, colleges, office buildings and so on.
